How to know if your doe is ready for breeding? To determine if your goat is ready for breeding. Depending on your herd type some start breeding at 7-9 months. I like to take this approach with my nigerians. Minis need to have their weight about 40-50lbs. Other things to look for is the size of thurl to thurl and hips to pins. I want to make sure by the time of kidding comes around they have the ease to deliver a baby. Standard breeds who are not minis they need to be above 80lbs. For me with Nubians I will be waiting till at least 18 months of age or older to breed them. Once you have looked over your checklist and doe is healthy and great body condition then during heat cycle can breed. If breeding was successful and no short cycling expect to have kids on the ground within 145-150 days. Happy kidding!!
How to know if my doe is in heat? Some breeds are more vocal than others especially in heat. Now there are times they can have what we call silent heat cycles where they are not as vocal. If the does share a fence line with the bucks they will tend to go to the fence line to get the bucks attention. Usually thats when they are doing what is call a standing heat. You may see some discharge or krusty tail. They will be flagging (wagging their tail fast) and having their rear towards the bucks. For those who don't have bucks or want to share fence lines. A buck rag will come in handy. A buck rag is a rag that is filled with that lovely buck cologne/urine. Sometimes other does will mount her or vis versa. Spending as much time as possible with your goats will help you know their routines and will show obvious changes in their acting/health.
How to know if my doe is pregnant? If you've seen the buck breed with the doe and have waited 21-28 days and no heat cycle. Well you can be hopeful that she is pregnant. Always look out to see if she ever comes back into heat after being with the buck. Ultrasounding after 30 days to help determine if she is pregnant. You can also send in or buy some blood tests for at home check of pregnancies. Check with your lab to see if they offer that test. Always write down the day of breeding to know when to expect kids on the ground.

Don't waste a Breeders time!
Yes everyone has life, but not everyone has the courtesy to have a good communication with a breeder. It doesn't matter what kind of animal. Having good communication with a breeder you are interested in purchasing from is key. It goes the same for the breeder with the person inquiring of their animals. If you have applied to be on a breeders waitlist stick with it. Having to put down a nonrefundable deposit to be on a waitlist is not a scam. Breeders only want serious inquiries. They do not want their time taken up by those who are not serious/change of mind. If someone on a waitlist finds a different animal to purchase and no longer interested in said breeders waitlist...Then do your do diligence by communicating with breeder and canceling or moving to a different year etc. When a breeder has to go down the list and a person on there has changed/went a different route it's a waste of the breeders time.
For myself if one doesn't respond to my notifications of spot on waitlist. I will not be adding them again on waitlist. This helps me by not wasting my time again. It determines my final slots for the waitlist.
Once a breeder has added you on their waitlist this is taking a spot of say bucklings/doelings. Some breeders only allow a certain amount and then close the list. When someone doesn't full fill their spot when it could've gone to someone else is a bit disrespectful.
Let's be courteous of everyone's time.
Let's communicate with each other.
Nobody wants to be ghosted.
Good luck on your new journeys and new relationships with some fellow breeders.
